WASHINGTON – Police say a string of four armed robberies committed within a five-mile radius in one hour in Franconia on Thursday are related, and they’re asking for the public’s help in finding the suspects.
In each incident, three men approached a lone victim, produced a gun and demanded money.
The spree began around 10:15 p.m. on Feb. 9, when police say three black men wearing ski masks approached a 27-year-old woman as she walked out of a building on the 6900 block of Kingstowne Village Parkway.
Fifteen minutes later, a 22-year-old woman was in a parking lot in the 5900 block of Norham Drive when the three men approached her, took her money, then hit her with the gun and fled, police say.
At 11 p.m., police say the third victim, a 20-year-old man, pulled into his driveway on the 6300 block of Dana Avenue in Springfield when three men in hooded sweatshirts rushed toward him, forced him out of his car and demanded his money and belongings. After robbing him, one of the suspects punched the victim in the face, then took off with the other suspects in a black Toyota Camry.
And at 11:30 p.m., a 25-year-old man was approached by the three suspects on the 6500 block of Quander Road near Stokes Lane and threatened and robbed. The suspects fled and there were no injuries, police say.
The suspects are described as between the ages of 20 and 25, around 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing between 170 and 200 pounds.
