WASHINGTON – After 58 years in the Washington, D.C. metro area, Penn Camera announced it has filed for bankruptcy and is closing five of its local stores.
Penn Camera Exchange, Inc. made the announcement on its website Wednesday that it filed for Chapter 11.
“A dramatic decline in sales performance during the preceding holiday period has precipitated this action,” read the letter to customers.
“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the photographic needs of this community for nearly sixty years. We extend our deepest gratitude to our many employees and wish for them a smooth transition.”
Penn Camera will close the following five locations immediately:
- Pikesville
- Laurel
- Fairlakes
- Springfield
- 18th Street
They will hold a clearance sale at their E Street, Rockville and Tysons Corner locations.
Customers that have repairs, processing or other business related items located in the stores that have closed may pick up their property as indicated below:
