UNDATED – On Thanksgiving would you drag yourself off the couch for discount deals that start at 10 p.m.?
Some Black Friday shoppers say “no way” and resent having to make that kind of decision.
Bloggers, tweet posters and Facebook friends all are growling objections. One criticism is that some enthusiastic shoppers will still be drunk Thanksgiving night and people could get hurt.
Others resent being pulled away from digestive rest and family to get in line for bargain shopping.
Even some usually rabid shoppers tell The New York Times they’ll be boycotting Black Friday.
As you can imagine, some employees are less than thrilled having to work on Thanksgiving to prepare for midnight openings at Target, Macy’s, Best Buy and Kohl’s for example.
There’s an online petition for Target to change its midnight open plan.
Walmart responds to Black Thursday nay-sayers, stating its customers would rather stay up late to shop than get up early. Nordstrom however is sticking to its guns to celebrate only one holiday at a time. It will not be open on Thanksgiving. People on Facebook are liking that like crazy.
