Party Foul: Fans get doused with drinks by fumbling Nets player

WASHINGTON — The Verizon Center court turned slippery Saturday night when Mason Plumlee of the Brooklyn Nets couldn’t hit the brakes before crashing into a Verizon Center waitress and wasting her entire tray of beers.

Two fans in the front row were the recipients of the spilling brew and not in a good way. But if they were Washington Wizards fans then they were happy as the team broke their five-game losing streak with a win over the Nets, 114-77.

Lordy, Lord! Those poor fans are going to smell like they’ve been in an all night boozer. Just don’t get pulled over by the police on the drive back home. “Sir, have you been drinking….?”

I would think the NBA would be very careful about what can and can’t be allowed courtside. It only takes a minute to clean and dry but that’s a lot of time for a live network. It also introduces a slip-fall liability for the arena.

Considering the price of arena beer that is a major loss for Verizon.
