Herndon man dies after being ejected from car on I-495

WASHINGTON — A Herndon, Virginia, resident died early morning Sunday after he was ejected from his car on the Capital Beltway, Maryland State Police say.

Police said 23-year-old Jose Leonel Bonilla Torres of Herndon was exiting a ramp on the Outer Loop of I-495 at Connecticut Avenue when his car veered off and struck a bridge abutment, sending the car airborne to the roadway below.

The car landed on Kensington Parkway, where the driver was ejected and died from injuries.

There were no passengers in the vehicle, police say.

Police say alcohol is believed to be a factor in the single-vehicle crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
