Police ID body found in Patuxent River

WASHINGTON — Anne Arundel County officials found a body after a vehicle was located in the Patuxent River Tuesday morning.

Anne Arundel County Fire Department said search teams found a body Wednesday afternoon. Officials say the body found — later identified as 47-year-old Rene Dimanche Jr. of Waldorf, Maryland — was that of a missing motorist for whom they were searching.

On Tuesday morning, fire crews from Anne Arundel and Prince George’s counties responded to the Brock Bridge Road area for reports of a white pickup truck in the river.

Witnesses told police that they saw the truck attempting to drive through the flooded section of Brock Bridge Road. One witness told police he saw the truck suddenly float up and spin around in the current.

Officials searched the area for several hours Tuesday morning in an attempt to locate the vehicle, but failed to find it. Searchers later found the vehicle Tuesday at about 10:30 p.m.

Police say Dimanche had last been seen by family members at his residence at about 3 a.m. Tuesday.

The body will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to be performed to determine the final cause and manner of death.
