Police: Woman reports dead man in Va. apartment

WASHINGTON — Police are investigating after a woman walked into a government center in Alexandria to report that there was a dead man in her apartment.

Fairfax County police say officers responded to the South County Government Center on Richmond Highway around 3:20 p.m. Monday. Staff members told police the woman had walked in and reported a dead man was in her apartment.

Officers and paramedics then responded to the apartment, located in the 5300 block of Bedford Terrace, along with the woman. There, officers found the man with trauma to the upper body.

He was pronounced dead on the scene. His identity was not immediately known.

Police say the woman is being held for questioning. Preliminary investigation revealed there was a prior relationship between the man and woman.
