Maine limits Norfolk St to 100 yards in 10-6 win

ORONO, Maine (AP) — The Maine defense, led by Christophe Mulumba Tshimanga’s 14 tackles, held Norfolk State to just 100 total yards to lead the Black Bears to a 10-6 victory in the season opener for both teams Saturday night.

Cameron Marouf kicked field goals of 46- and 38-yards on Norfolk State’s first two possessions and the Spartans took a 6-0 lead.

Maine forced Norfolk State into six three-and-outs in its remaining 13 drives and held the Spartans to just 1.7 yards per play.

Dan Collins hit Damarr Aultman for a 33-yard touchdown with 6:29 left in the first half, capping off a seven-play, 81-yard drive for Maine.

Trevor Bates intercepted a pass from Malik Stokes, one of four players who attempted a pass for Norfolk State, setting up a 27-yard field goal by Sean Decloux with 6:35 left in the third quarter.
