Union Says County Dems Have Strayed Right — MCGEO, the Montgomery County employee union, has been a frequent critic of Montgomery County Democrats. Now, President Gino Renne says the group is soliciting “true progressive,” challengers for the 2014 primaries. The union was against the county’s move to cut police effects bargaining and is opposed to a Wal-Mart in Aspen Hill and a tax break provided for Bethesda-based Lockheed Martin in this year’s General Assembly. City Lights Of China Returning? — So says blogger Robert Dyer. He reported the Bethesda Row favorite will open again just down the street from its former location at 4953 Bethesda Ave., the former space of Taipei 101 Tokyo Cafe. City Lights did not renew its Bethesda Row lease after a rent increase. Shortly after it left, construction work began on ShopHouse Asian Kitchen. [Robert Dyer @ Bethesda Row]
Gallery B November Exhibition — Gallery B’s November exhibition includes four painters who will put their work up for display and who have joined together to create one collaborative “ZigZag” group piece. The exhibit will be open from Nov. 6 to Nov. 30 with an opening reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8 that will coincide with the monthly Bethesda Art Walk. [Bethesda Urban Partnership]
