FBI: ‘Beacon Hill Bandit’ robbed same Alexandria bank four times

WASHINGTON – The FBI is looking for a man they believe is responsible for robbing the same Alexandria bank four times.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information on the “Beacon Hill Bandit,” who the FBI say robbed the TD Bank across from the Beacon Hill Shopping Center.

The bank, located in the 6600 block of Richmond Highway, was robbed four times between March 2010 and July 2013.

The suspect used the same method each of the four times: Entering the bank, appearing preoccupied on his cell phone before approaching a teller and verbally demanding or passing a note demanding money. He would provide a plastic grocery bag to the teller each time.

Three times the suspect implied he had a gun.

After taking the money, the suspect left on foot, in the direction of the Chilli’s restaurant on Richmond Highway.

The suspect is described as a black man, in his 30s, between 5-feet-9-inches and 6-feet tall with a muscular build.

During each robbery the suspect wore sunglasses with square frames. On two occasions, the subject wore a hard hat and dressed as a construction worker.

During the robbery in July 2013, the subject wore a hat with an image that resembled a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle character.

The FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force and the Fairfax County, Virginia, Police Department are investigating these bank robberies and ask anyone with information call the FBI at 202-278-2000.
