WASHINGTON – Foodies of the green persuasion get their say this month. The Nature Conservancy is holding an online competition to name the country’s best eco-friendly restaurant.
The Nature’s Plate Award contest is open to legal residents of D.C., Virginia, California, Washington state, Colorado, Florida, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut and New York. Simply complete a voting form with the restaurant’s name, city and state and why you are nominating it.
Just make sure to follow a few guidelines. Each nominee must use:
- Sustainable seafood
- Free-range and grass-fed meat
- Organic produce or other organic food
- Locally and seasonally grown produce
- Tap water, not bottled water
Voting ends May 16 at 9 p.m. Semifinalist voting begins June 4 and ends June 21. Winners will be announced June 26.
