NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) — The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating a Delaware bus crash that left two dead and dozens injured.
NTSB spokesman Peter Knudson said Monday that the agency has opened an investigation, with investigators at the scene.
The crash occurred Sunday just before 4:30 p.m. when a tour bus overturned on a highway off-ramp in northern Delaware. A female passenger was pinned under the bus and died at the scene. Another woman died Sunday night at a hospital.
Knudson says the first phase of the investigation will last three or four days, with a preliminary report likely available next week.
State police say drugs and alcohol didn’t play a role.
Police say the bus belonged to New York-based Am USA Express Inc.
Records show the company was involved in one other crash over the past two years, with no one hurt.
