Presbyterian scores late to beat Monmouth 18-12

CLINTON, S.C. (AP) — Heys McMath ran 15 yards on a quarterback keeper with 53 seconds remaining and Presbyterian beat Monmouth 18-12 on Saturday.

Lucas Santangelo’s second field goal of the game put Monmouth (5-2, 0-1 Big South) on top 12-10 with 4:19 left after Brandon Morrow’s field goal gave the Blue Hose (5-3, 2-1) the lead at 9:24 of the fourth quarter.

Monmouth, playing in its first Big South game since joining the conference in 2013, scored on the game’s first play from scrimmage when Brandon Hill completed an 81-yard score to Neal Sterling, who finished with 136 yards receiving. However, the PAT missed and Blake Roberts put the Blue Hose (5-3, 2-1) on top with a 6-yard run to complete a 10-play, 83-yard drive with just a minute left in the half.

Presbyterian had a 415-287 edge in total offense, including 182-51 on the ground. The Hawks had two turnovers.
