George, the goldfish, was reportedly having trouble swimming in his tank, which he shares with 38 other goldfish, some of which are as old as 18.

The couple brought George to Lort Smith Animal Hospital in Melbourne, where a veterinarian was able to perform micro-surgery using the help of three buckets of water. The first one contained a knock out dose of anaesthetic to put George to sleep. The second bucket had a “maintenance” level of anaesthetic to keep him under, and a third bucket was filled with clean water to wake him up.
