WASHINGTON — A new type credit card will debut soon, and its creators hope it’ll make fraud a thing of the past.
Dynamics, a credit-card developer, will soon release a credit card with its own keypad, CBS News reports.
The keypad works by hiding the middle six numbers of your credit card. The numbers are only revealed when a five-digit personal code is entered. This code can also turn the magnetic strip of the credit card on and off.
“If you lose the card, or the card’s stolen, it’s irrelevant,” Dynamics CEO Jeff Mullen said to CBS. “It’s a dead piece of plastic.”
The card generates a new code for each transaction, so stealing information on your card would be virtually impossible as well.
Even with the technology, the card isn’t a thick behemoth: Mullen says the card is still flexible enough to be bent by hand. Dynamics says the card is waterproof, too.
