TYSONS CORNER, Va. — If your morning commute takes you anywhere near Tysons Corner, you could be in for a slow roll over the next couple of days.
Rolling blockades of cars and trucks will be making their way eastbound on Route 7 from Winchester to Beulah Road — just west of Tysons — during the heart of the morning rush.
The convoy will be delivering power supplies for the massive Dulles Rail project to a location off Chathams Ford Drive near the Dulles Toll Road.
The following is from a press release from the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project:
The first delivery will depart from Winchester at 7 a.m., and is scheduled to arrive on site at approximately 9:30 a.m. The remaining two deliveries will follow in 1 1/2 hour intervals.
Delivery times at Chathams Ford/Beulah Road are restricted to between 9:30 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. to avoid school bus pick-up and drop-offs.
The traction power substation is part of the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project. These components have been manufactured in Ohio and will be transported to the site on six flatbed trucks (three per day) following a route approved by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles:
- I-81 South into Virginia from points north and west;
- East on Route 7 (Leesburg Pike);
- Right on to Beulah Road, then across the Dulles Toll Road bridge
- Left on to Chathams Ford Drive.
