DeJoria, Enders-Stevens top NHRA qualifying

COMMERCE, Ga. (AP) — Alexis DeJoria topped Funny Car qualifying, and fellow female racer Erica Enders-Stevens led the Pro Stock field Saturday in the NHRA Southern Nationals at Atlanta Dragway.

DeJoria, the wife of television personality Jesse James and daughter of entrepreneur John Paul DeJoria, took the No. 1 spot with her Friday run of a track-record time of 4.012 seconds at 313.95 mph. She won this year in Arizona and Las Vegas, and is trying to give female drivers their 100th career victory.

“If it happens tomorrow, great,” DeJoria said. “We just want to keep going rounds. First things first, we’ve got to get past first round and get past Tony Pedregon.”

Enders-Stevens, the points leader coming off a victory in the last event in Baytown, Texas, broke the track record with a time of 6.493 at 212.69 in her Chevrolet Camaro. She also won this year in Las Vegas.

Doug Kalitta led Top Fuel qualifying, and Eddie Krawiec topped the Pro Stock Motorcycle field.

Kalitta set Top Fuel track records for time and speed with his 3.732 run at 328.86 during the third session. He won this year in Gainesville, Florida.

Krawiec also set a track time record with a 6.796 at 196.62 on a Harley Davidson.
