Police: Man killed boss’ wife, took his own life in Potomac

WASHINGTON – Montgomery County police are investigating the suspicious deaths of two people in Potomac, Maryland, as a murder-suicide stemming from a workplace dispute.

Police believe that the woman found dead in a home on Great Elm Drive lived there and that her husband worked with her killer. They say the man found dead inside a Mercedes, which had struck a tree less than two miles away from the house, killed himself after killing the woman. Police found a gun in the car.

Their names have not been released and autopsies are planned to confirm the causes and manners of death, police say.

The victims were found after firefighters responded to a fire on Great Elm and police were called to a crash at Piney Meetinghouse and River roads about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators believe that the apparent murder and suicide stemmed from problems regarding the dead man’s work duties that arose Tuesday.

They believe that the dead man left work and then killed his boss’ wife.

Spokesman Capt. Paul Starks tells the Associated Press the suspect and his former boss worked at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, which is headquartered in Bethesda.
