Gunshots fired inside Chevy Chase home

CHEVY CHASE, Md. — Several people are in custody after an alarming 911 call to Montgomery County police early Friday morning.

Someone reported hearing gunshots and seeing flashes at a home in the 8400 block of Freyman Drive in Chevy Chase.

“Officers did respond immediately,” says Police Captain David Falcinelli. “They discovered some shell casings just outside the perimeter of the house.”

A SWAT team responded to the area and police blocked off streets with road flares off East West Highway.

Four people from the home were taken into custody for questioning. Some or all of the individuals may face charges, according to police.

“They’re not at all threatening,” says Jim Keil, a surprised neighbor who lives directly next door. “They’re nice people.”

Keil heard the shots, which he describes as “automatic gunfire,” but at first he did not know exactly what it was.

“I thought it was a hammer,” explains Keil. “No one shoots guns in this neighborhood.”
