WASHINGTON — Howard County police have identified the officers involved in the fatal shooting, as well as the man who died.
Shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 20, officers Daniel Young, 33, and Lara Bradshaw, 25, responded to the 7600 block of Coachlight Lane, Ellicott City.
When they entered the bedroom of the home, Darren Friedman, 45, appeared and was covered in self-inflicted cuts. When officers move in further to help him, he confronted them with a knife. At that time both fired their guns.
Friedman was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he was pronounced dead.
Both officers are now on paid administrative leave, which is standard, as the case is investigated.
