CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — University of Virginia police say six people were hospitalized after a large section of a tree toppled onto tents at a farmers market.
Lt. Melissa Fielding says the incident occurred Thursday afternoon at the University of Virginia Medical Center, where a farmers market had been set up for U.Va. employees.
Police said injuries ranged from minor to serious, but none were considered life-threatening.
Charlottesville Fire Chief Charles Werner told The Daily Progress (http://bit.ly/1pQWhRT ) that the split apparently was caused by rotting wood.
