Suit prompts resignation of Md. youth soccer prez

ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) — The president and secretary of the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association have resigned as part of a temporary resolution to a lawsuit filed by the association’s board accusing them of trying to usurp the organization.

The resignations come as the organization is preparing to host the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships in Germantown.

The Daily Record of Baltimore (http://bit.ly/WjCukh ) reports that a restraining order issued Wednesday in Montgomery County bars the association president, Raymond Greenberg, and secretary Claire Filemyr from acting in the association’s name.

Their resignation letters were attached to the restraining order.

Judge Robert Greenberg said the order was needed because the association is about to host a major tournament “and no one is in charge.”

The association board accused the two of manipulating the organization.
