Apartment fire leaves one family homeless

WASHINGTON — A fire on Mills Choice Road, in Montgomery County, has left one family without a home.

The county police say that the fire department arrived to an apartment in the 19000 block around 8:45 p.m. to see flames coming from the first-floor terrace.

Search and rescue evacuated the building and had the fire out within 10 minutes. The fire was confined to the apartment and no one was hurt.

The gas and electricity to the building have been shut down, but the cause of the fire is under investigation.
