Arthur Chu talks ‘Jeopardy!’ and retirement

WASHINGTON — Yeah, Arthur Chu made $297,000 on “Jeopardy!”, but he isn’t looking to splurge any time soon.

He wants to take his wife to China to see family. “I’m just trying to play it safe,” Chu tells WTOP’s Mike Murillo. “I’m thinking about retirement and building a financial cushion with that money.”

Chu made waves this past winter with his unconventional style of play, in which he jumped from category to category, which prevented his opponents from finding Daily Doubles.

The style, named after former “Jeopardy!” champion Chuck Forrest, was chastised on social media. Critics argued that Chu made it tougher for contestants, as well as those trying to follow the show at home.

Chu was defeated last week after an 11-game winning streak. Listen to Chu’s full interview with Murillo.
