5 in custody after pellet gun incident at Va. school

WASHINGTON – Five people are in custody after an incident involving a pellet gun at a school on Wednesday.

The Culpeper County Sheriff’s office was called shortly after 8 a.m. with reports that a person was pointing a gun at A.G. Richardson Elementary School and Pearl Sample Elementary School on James Madison Highway.

“At no time were any school children in danger,” Sheriff Scott Jenkins said in a news release. “We’re in the process of speaking with the individuals involved and will release further information as it becomes available. We want to reassure parents that their children are safe at both schools.”

Deputies took five people into custody in connection with the incident.
