Grizzlies sign draft pick Jarnell Stokes to deal

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — The Memphis Grizzlies have signed their second-round draft pick Jarnell Stokes to a multi-year contract.

The Grizzlies did not disclose the terms Monday. The Commercial Appeal reports it’s a three-year deal worth more than $2.5 million for the 35th pick overall.

The 6-foot-9, 263-pound Stokes was drafted by Utah in June and traded to Memphis on draft night for a second-round draft pick in 2016. The Memphis native played three years at the University of Tennessee where he led the Southeastern Conference in offensive rebounding his last two seasons. He led Tennessee to three NCAA tournament wins and a trip to the Sweet 16.

Stokes averaged 12.2 points and 9.4 rebounds with three double-doubles in five games for the Grizzlies during the Orlando summer league.
