Jabs keep coming as Redskins nightmare season winds down

WASHINGTON — Like two more jabs at a beaten man, the Redskins’ miserable season nears the end with online campaigns to publicly shame their mascot and another one to buy the team.

Again this year, the National Congress of American Indians looks to fund a commercial around the Super Bowl, highlighting its people and decrying the use of stereotypes against Native peoples in sports.

The effort seeks to raise $20,000 to produce the ad. More than 100 people have already contributed.

Backers can get T-shirts that say: “REPLACE,” “RENAME” or “RETHINK.”

A separate effort is as audacious as it is improbable. It seeks to buy the team from owner Dan Snyder.

“Let’s take back what’s rightfully ours,” the campaign exhorts.

Its fundraising goal is $900 million.

As of late Friday, two people had donated for a total of $40.
