WASHINGTON — Several Virginia and Maryland universities made Kiplinger Magazine’s “Best Values in Public Colleges” list.
Two Virginia schools ranked in the top five, and many more in both states made the top 100.
The University of Virginia was ranked No. 2 and The College of William and Mary came in at No. 4.
University of Maryland College Park made No. 7.
St. Mary’s College of Maryland, Salisbury University, Towson University and University of Maryland Baltimore County were all in the top 100.
Also in the top 100 are five Virginia universities: James Madison University, Virginia Tech, The University of Mary Washington, George Mason University and Christopher Newport University.
Topping the list for the 13th straight year is University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill thanks to its “combination of stellar academics, low cost and rich financial aid has once again bested its peers,” Kiplinger’s writes.
The magazine looked at several factors when weighing nearly 600 public colleges: in-state tuition, room and board and other fees.
