WASHINGTON (AP) — Maryland was the only state in the Mid-Atlantic region that saw casino revenues increase significantly between 2012 and 2013, and the trend has continued into 2014.
That’s according to annual revenue figures compiled by the Center for Gaming Research at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas.
Casino revenue in Maryland increased by 32 percent in Maryland in fiscal 2013. Casino revenues decreased in Delaware, West Virginia and New Jersey, and revenues in Pennsylvania were flat.
The Washington Post reports (http://wapo.st/1xJB6Ei ) that last month, Maryland’s five casinos generated $82 million. That’s 26 percent more than a year earlier, though just $2 million more than August figures.
A sixth casino in Maryland is scheduled to be built in 2016 near the nation’s capital in Prince George’s County.
