WASHINGTON — Sorry, lumberjacks.
According to the 26th annual best and worst jobs list from CareerCast, chopping down trees is the worst career. It’s closely followed by newspaper reporters.
The criteria for the 2014 list is based on variables within four categories: Environment, income, career outlook and stress.
Military personnel took the third spot and taxi drivers came in fourth.
But the math looks good for mathematicians. On the list of 200, that career came out on top followed by tenured college professors.

- Enlisted Military Personnel
- Taxi driver
- Broadcaster
- Head cook
- Flight attendant
- Garbage collector
- Firefighter
- Corrections officer
And the top 10 best:
- Mathematician
- Tenured professor
- Statistician
- Actuary
- Audiologist
- Dental hygienist
- Software engineer
- Computer systems analyst
- Occupational therapist
- Speech pathologist
