WASHINGTON -- A 38-year-old Woodbridge woman says she was sexually assaulted inside her bedroom by an unknown man who covered the bottom half of his face with a towel.
The woman told Prince William County police that she woke up to the suspect exposing himself in her bedroom, before he assaulted her.
The incident happened in the 1700 block of River Bend Way on Wednesday, police say.
Police believe the suspect entered the home through an unsecured window.
The suspect is described as a black male, between 25 and 30 years of age, 6-feet to 6-feet-5-inches tall with a thin build and short hair.
He was last seen wearing a black tank top, black shorts, white and red shoes and carrying a small, tan colored towel.
The victims tells WTOP that she won't continue living in the home where she was attacked.
"I don't have any idea why this happened to me. I don't know why," she says.
WTOP does not identify sexual assault victims without their consent.
Police spokesman Jonathan Perok says the woman was assaulted in an unusual daylight crime. Investigators say the crime may have started as an attempted burglary but the culprit unexpectedly found someone home.
