Police release sketch from Sterling area robbery

WASHINGTON — Detectives with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office released a composite sketch Thursday of the suspect involved in two street robberies reported on May 31.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 62-year-old woman who was found injured around 5:30 a.m. on the 1200 block of E. Severn Way. The suspect approached the woman and tried to grab her purse. After a struggle, the suspect hit her with a blunt object described as a handgun. The woman suffered minor injuries, and the suspect fled the scene with her purse.

The suspect is described as male, about 5’8″ to 5’10”, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses.

Around 9:00 p.m. also on May 31, deputies went to Reston Hospital to see a victim who was also assaulted that day.

The victim, a 52-year-old woman from Ashburn said around 5:00 a.m. she was in her vehicle on the 2100 block of Stanford Square when a man knocked on her window.

The man opened her car door, and revealed a firearm while demanding money. The suspect forced her out of the car and told her to remove her pants. The woman was sexually assaulted by the suspect.

Both victims describe a similar man wearing similar clothes.
