The Humane Society of Warren County is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing compassionate care to abandoned, abused, homeless and neglected animals in our community. We aim to place all adoptable pets into loving homes. HSWC is a 501c3 with a contract to provide public sheltering services to Warren County, VA. We are an open admission shelter and will not turn away any animal in our community regardless of space limitations, behavioral or medical needs. We take in approximately 2200 dogs and cats a year. In 2011 we began an aggressive campaign to increase adoption rates and decrease the rate of unnecessary euthanasia. In 2012 and 2013 we achieved a live release rate over 90% for dogs. In 2012 HSWC increased our cat adoptions by over 70%. in 2013 we again broke records for the most cat adoptions in shelter history. It is our vision to be part of a community where every pet is a wanted pet.
