Shoppers conflicted on Super Saturday

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. – You’ve probably heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday but you might not know what Saturday is?

Besides officially being the first day of winter, this is the last Saturday before Christmas which is called “Super Saturday.” Who knew?

Many people who were shopping at Tanger Outlets at National Harbor on Saturday morning had never heard of this most recent of shopping days.

“What’s Super Saturday,” asks Lenard Mylo from Fredericksburg.

Bill Perry from Waldorf was racking his brain, “I heard something, is it “Super Saturday”?

“Super Saturday”, according to Wikipedia, is the last Saturday before Christmas and a major sales day for American retailers.

“Wow, they have a name for everything now,” says Perry, who admits when he heard about “Super Saturday” on the news it made him more nervous because he wasn’t ready for Christmas.

“Super Saturday” targets last minute shoppers by trying to lure them in with more discounts and extended shopping hours.

So how super are the deals?

“Just in a matter of 24 hours the deals are better,” says Timeka Glasgow, from Landover, who was at Tanger Outlets on Friday. “It’s better today (Saturday).”

Marlene Unisa from Oxon Hill was not impressed with “Super Saturday.” “Nothing really on sale, nothing super.”

Mylo seemed pretty happy with his shopping experience, after coming all the way from Fredericksburg.

“Yeah, actually we got some good discounts here, I’m happy,” says Mylo.
