Pilot, passenger killed in Va. plane crash

TOPPING, Va. (AP) — State and federal authorities are investigating a single-engine plane crash in Middlesex County that killed the pilot and a passenger.

Virginia State Police say the 1968 Cessna 150 crashed shortly before 5 p.m. Sunday in Topping.

Sgt. Michelle Anaya said Monday that 48-year-old passenger Misty Dawn McIntyre of Newport died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

Authorities previously identified the pilot as 58-year-old Stephen L. Myers of Christiansburg.

State police and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash.
