D.C. man arrested in Chevy Chase carjacking

WASHINGTON — A D.C. man has been arrested in connection with a carjacking in Chevy Chase that occurred March 13.

David Joel Sutton, 18, of Northeast D.C., was found in a stolen car near the intersection of New York Avenue and Bladensburg Road in NE D.C. March 15, following a car chase with the U.S. Park Police.

Park police notified Montgomery County police about the chase involving the car, which Montgomery County police determined was the same car that had been carjacked March 13.

Sutton was inside the car police had been chasing and found to be the one responsible for the carjacking.

He has been charged with armed carjacking, carjacking, first degree assault, armed robbery, the use of a firearm in the commission of a violent felony, and the unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.

Sutton is being held by the U.S. Park police pending criminal charges in D.C.

Police are investigating whether any the other occupants of the vehicle had been involved with the carjacking.
