Pedestrian hit by garbage truck in D.C.

WASHINGTON – D.C. police are investigating after a pedestrian was hit by a garbage truck in northwest D.C. Friday morning.

Authorities say the person was trapped under the truck’s rear wheels after being hit early Friday near the intersection of 13th Street and New York Avenue. The person was freed by rescuers and taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the truck remained on the scene.
