WASHINGTON — The Maryland Terps might have defeated Penn State Saturday by the game-ending buzzard, but midway through the first half there was an interesting moment when Terps senior star Dez Wells stepped up to the foul line, Deadspin reports. Click here to view the video.
Penn State fans started chants of “No means no! No means no!”
They were alluding to August 2012, when Wells was kicked off Xavier University’s team and expelled from the school for “a serious violation of the Code of Student Conduct.”
Wells was accused of sexual assault but an Ohio grand jury decided against issuing federal criminal charges. He walked free, transferred to Maryland, and sued Xavier, claiming that the allegations were false because he argued the event in question was consensual sex. Both parties settled last year.
The chanting didn’t seem to faze Wells as he sunk his free throw and the Nittany Lions fell to the Terps 76-73.
