The WTOP Charity of the Month is
Covenant House Greater Washington
Since 1995 Covenant House Greater Washington has provided young people overcoming homelessness with safe haven, care, and the supportive services needed to achieve housing, job, and economic stability.
This year Covenant House Greater Washington will provide immediate safe housing to over 1,000 young people experiencing homelessness, providing help and hope to over 90 youth and their children every night.
In addition to emergency housing,Covenant House Greater Washington offers transitional housing, an 18-24 month program that provides young people with employment training and opportunities, workforce readiness, education, and life skills.
Our passion is creating solutions for youth that help them achieve economic, job , and housing stability. Case management and mental health support is an essential component of our residential and educational programming. Young people work with case managers to identify their strengths and challenges while developing and implementing their personal success plans. We also supported 31 youth going off to college.
