Trucker charged in crash that shutdown Interstate 81

ROANOKE, Va. (AP) — Virginia State Police have filed charges against a truck driver from North Carolina after a crash that caused a six-hour shutdown on part of Interstate 81.

The Roanoke Times reports Virginia State Police Sgt. Rick Garletts says 41-year-old Rohan A. Daley of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, was charged with reckless driving after the crash in Botetourt County on Sunday.

The patrol says Daley’s tractor-trailer ran off the left side of the road, hit a guardrail and overturned, spilling a load of steel trusses onto the interstate at mile marker 167. No injuries were reported.

Botetourt County Fire and EMS Chief Jason Ferguson wrote in an email that the truck’s fuel tank also ruptured, leaking about 150 gallons of diesel,
