INYO COUNTY, Calif. (AP) — After being notified he didn’t show up to work, authorities in California are looking for a Virginia man who had planned to climb Mount Whitney.
Members from the Inyo County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team ascended the mountain trail Monday in search of 41-year-old Ling Dao, reported missing June 14.
A coworker told the sheriff’s office Dao had planned to summit Mount Whitney June 12 and then catch a flight back to Virginia the day after.
According to a Facebook post by the sheriff’s office, the rental car company Dao used told the office he returned the vehicle June 14, which they later changed to June 15.
The vehicle was located June 15 at a campground parking area, and a search and rescue mission was launched the next day.
