Colorado State wins 84-71 against Wyoming

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — John Tonje scored 25 points as Colorado State beat Wyoming 84-71 on Friday night.

Tonje added six rebounds for the Rams (13-16, 5-11 Mountain West Conference). James Moors scored 16 points and added five rebounds. Isaiah Stevens recorded 15 points and shot 6 of 10 from the field and 2 for 3 from the line.

The Cowboys (8-20, 3-13) were led in scoring by Hunter Maldonado, who finished with 23 points, six rebounds and five assists. Brendan Wenzel added 17 points and six assists for Wyoming. Hunter Thompson also had 12 points.

Colorado State took the lead with 13:32 left in the first half and never looked back. The score was 40-30 at halftime, with Tonje racking up seven points. Colorado State pulled away with a 10-0 run in the second half to extend a five-point lead to 15 points. They outscored Wyoming by three points in the final half, as Tonje led the way with a team-high 18 second-half points.

Colorado State plays Tuesday against San Jose State on the road, while Wyoming hosts Nevada on Monday.
