Wake Forest uses its trifecta to sink Florida St. 90-75

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) — Cameron Hildreth scored 23 points to lead a trio of 20-plus scorers and Wake Forest used the last 26 minutes to make easy work of Florida State 90-75 on Wednesday night.

Andrew Carr and Damari Monsanto each scored 22 points for the Demon Deacons. The trio combined to shoot 23 of 32, including 8 for 10 from 3-point range. Monsanto went 6 for 7 from 3-point range. Tyree Appleby added 16 points.

Wake Forest finished 30 of 54 (55.6%), including 14 for 26 (53.8%) from beyond the arc. Defensively, Hildreth had four steals and Appleby and Carr three each.

Matthew Cleveland scored 19 points and had a career-high 12 rebounds for the Seminoles (5-12, 3-3 ACC). Caleb Mills scored 19 points on 6-for-9 shooting.

Florida State’s Darin Green Jr. made a jump shot with 6:42 in the first half to tie the score at 23. Hildreth responded with a layup and Wake Forest led for the rest of the game. The Demon Deacons (12-5, 4-2) outscored Florida State 65-42 for the remainder.

Wake Forest led 44-35 at halftime and eventually extended its lead to its largest of the night when Hildreth made a basket for a 78-58 advantage with 8:10 remaining.
