Devils beat Maple Leafs 3-2 in OT for 11th straight victory

TORONTO (AP) — Yegor Sharangovich scored 57 seconds into overtime, Vitek Vanecek made 25 saves and the New Jersey Devils beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2 on Thursday for their 11th straight victory.

Sharangovich scored his fourth goal of the season on a rebound after Jack Hughes stole the puck, beating goalie Matt Murray.

Nico Hischier and Jesper Bratt also scored to help New Jersey improve to 14-3-0. The Devils have won 11 in a row for the third time in franchise history.

New Jersey also snapped an eight-game losing streak against Toronto dating to April 2018 — and won at Scotiabank Arena for the first time since October 2017.

Auston Matthews had a goal and an assist for Toronto, William Nylander also scored and Murray made 30 saves. Mitch Marner added an assist to push his points streak to 11 games, the longest active run in the NHL.

With Murray on the bench for an extra attacker, Nylander tied it with his eighth on a shot that hit Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenathaler with 2:09 left in regulation.

BRUINS 4, FLYERS 1

BOSTON (AP) — David Krejci scored twice in the third period and Boston beat Philadelphia.

Tomas Nosek scored for the second straight game and Jake DeBrusk also had a goal to help the Bruins win their fifth straight and improve to 10-0 at home. Linus Ullmark stopped 22 shots for his 12th victory in 12 starts. Boston has won 15 of its first 17 games.

Owen Tippett scored on a power-play for Philadelphia, and Carter Hart made 28 saves. The Flyers have dropped five straight.

PENGUINS 6, WILD 4

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Sidney Crosby had two goals and two assists for a season-high four points and Pittsburgh beat Minnesota.

Ryan Poehling, Kris Letang, Brock McGinn and Jake Guentzel also scored for the Penguins and Tristan Jarry stopped 19 shots. Pittsburgh is 3-1-1 after losing seven straight.

Joel Eriksson Ek scored twice and Brandon Duhaime and Matt Dumba added goals for the Wild. Filip Gustavsson, filling in for the injured Marc-Andre Fleury, made 26 saves.

AVALANCHE 3, HURRICANES 2, OT

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Artturi Lehkonen scored 1:55 into overtime to lift Colorado past Carolina.

Evan Rodrigues and Alex Newhook also scored and Pavel Francouz made 46 saves to help the Avalanche beat the Hurricanes for the second time in six nights.

Martin Necas had a goal and an assist for Carolina. Sebastian Aho also scored and Antti Raanta made 12 saves.

STARS 6, PANTHERS 4

SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — Roope Hintz scored twice and Dallas held off Florida after losing starting goalie Scott Wedgewood to injury.

Wedgewood was carted off the ice by paramedics not long after making a save on Anton Lundell in the second period. Wedgewood made 21 saves.

Nils Lundqvist, Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin and Ty Dellandrea also scored for Dallas. Carter Verhaeghe, Eetu Luostarinen, Sam Reinhart and Matthew Tkachuk. scored for Florida.

GOLDEN KNIGHTS 4, COYOTES 1

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Alex Pietrangelo had a goal and two assists to help Vegas beat Arizona.

William Carrier, Mark Stone and Reilly Smith also scored to help Vegas halt a two-game skid. Logan Thompson made 25 saves, and Jonathan Marchessault had two assists. Vegas forward Phil Kessel skated in his NHL-record 1,000th consecutive game.

The Golden Knights improved to 17-7-0 against the Coyotes, including 10-3-0 on home ice.

Clayton Keller scored for Arizona to extend his points streak to six games. Karel Vejmelka stopped 35 shots.

LIGHTNING 4, FLAMES 1

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Nikita Kucherov had two goals, Andrei Vasilevskiy made 39 saves and Tampa Bay beat Calgary.

Steven Stamkos had a goal and an assist, and Philippe Myers also scored for the Lightning.

Elias Lindholm scored for Calgary and Jacob Markstrom stopped 20 shots.

BLUES 5, CAPITALS 4, SO

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Pavel Buchnevich scored in the sixth round of a shootout, Thomas Greiss made 47 saves and St. Louis beat Washington for its fifth straight victory.

Ryan O’Reilly, Brayden Schenn, Torey Krug and Buchnevich scored in regulation to help give Greiss his first victory with the Blues.

John Carlson scored twice for Washington, Alex Ovechkin had a goal and two assists and Conor Sheary also scored. The Capitals lost for the eighth time in 10 games.

BLUE JACKETS 6, CANADIENS 4

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Sean Kuraly scored twice in the third period and Columbus beat Montreal,

Boone Jenner and Mathieu Olivier also scored in the third, and Kuraly added an assist. Cole Sillinger and Gus Nyquist also scored, and Joonas Korpisalo stopped 38 shots.

Nick Suzuki had a goal and an assist, and Jordan Harris, Josh Anderson and Brendan Gallagher also scored for Montreal.

JETS 3, DUCKS 2

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) — Kyle Connor completed a hat trick with 53.5 seconds left to lift Winnipeg past Anaheim.

Connor converted a pass from forward Mark Scheifele, snapping a shot past goalie John Gibson. Connor Hellebuyck stopped 29 shots to help the Jets improve to 10-4-1.

Trevor Zegras and Troy Terry scored for Anaheim. Gibson made 29 saves.

PREDATORS 5, ISLANDERS 4

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Juuso Parssinen had two goals and an assist and Nashville beat New York for its third straight victory.

Filip Forsberg, Colton Sissons and Nino Niederreiter also scored for Nashville, and Juuse Saros made 29 saves. Roman Josi had four assists.

Adam Pelech and Jean-Gabriel Pageau each had a goal and an assist for New York. Cal Clutterbuck, Kyle Palmieri also scored and Ilya Sorokin made 26 saves.

KRAKEN 3, RANGERS 2, OT

SEATTLE (AP) — Justin Schultz scored his second goal of the game at 3:39 of overtime to lift Seattle past New York.

Jared McCann also scored for Seattle. Martin Jones had 28 saves.

Mika Zibanejad and Vincent Trocheck scored for the Rangers. Igor Shesterkin made 29 saves.

RED WINGS 7, SHARKS 4

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Moritz Seider broke a tie with 6:06 to play and Detroit overcame a four-point game from Erik Karlsson to beat San Jose.

David Perron had a goal and two assists for Detroit. Pius Suter, Dominik Kubalik, Jake Walman, Filip Hronek and Joe Veleno also scored, and Ville Husso made 20 saves.

Karlsson had a goal and three assists, and Kevin Labanc, Matt Nieto and Logan Couture also scored. The Sharks have just one win in 10 home games this season.
