European Tour off to Leopard Creek for 2nd time this season

VIRGINIA WATER, England (AP) — The Alfred Dunhill Championship will take place twice in the same season on the European Tour after the tournament at Leopard Creek was added to the reshaped 2020 calendar for next month.

The 2020 season started last November with the Alfred Dunhill Championship, and the tour will return to the same event on Nov. 26-29 as part of a “South African Swing” in a much-changed schedule brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.

The tour announced this week that the Joburg Open will be staged on Nov. 19-22.

They are the first European Tour events held in South Africa since the return of golf after the virus outbreak. No spectators will be allowed to attend amid strict coronavirus restrictions.

In an effort to reduce travel between events as much as possible, the tour is grouping tournaments in the same region.
