Bezos tweets offer to send Trump to space

(NEW YORK) — Jeff Bezos has only tweeted four times but has already spawned a movement with his hashtag #sendDonaldtospace.

The Amazon CEO, who owns The Washington Post and private space company Blue Origin, sent a rare tweet Monday night after presidential candidate Donald Trump hurled a few 140-character or less comments his way regarding Bezos’ companies.

The tweet came after Trump accused Bezos of using The Washington Post as a tax shelter.

Bezos does have one thing Trump doesn’t (as far as we know): his own rocket.

Blue Origin, Bezos’ private space company, successfully launched a rocket and landed it back on Earth last month, a feat that could help make space travel more affordable for the masses. After reaching its planned test altitude of 329,839 feet, the unmanned vessel returned to Earth, landing upright just four and a half feet from its launch pad, according to Blue Origin.

Bezos said his company plans to fly the vehicle “many, many times and then when we’re completely confident in it, we’re going to start using it to take people into space.”
