On a per-share basis, the Eden Prairie, Minnesota-based company said it had profit of $1.56. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $1.61 per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.53 per share.
The trucking company posted revenue of $4.93 billion in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $4.42 billion.
