The Pittsburgh-based company said it had net income of $1.81 per share. Earnings, adjusted for amortization costs and non-recurring costs, came to $2.32 per share.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.23 per share.
The maker of parts for locomotives, subways and buses posted revenue of $2.89 billion in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.87 billion.
Wabtec expects full-year earnings in the range of $8.85 to $9.05 per share, with revenue in the range of $10.93 billion to $11.23 billion.
