On a per-share basis, the King Of Prussia, Pennsylvania-based company said it had net income of $5.86. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to $5.69 per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $4.66 per share.
The hospital and health facility operator posted revenue of $4.5 billion in the period, also topping Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $4.31 billion.
