The Rutland, Vermont-based company said it had profit of 16 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 42 cents per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 34 cents per share.
The provider of garbage-disposal and recycling services posted revenue of $485.4 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $477.4 million.
Casella expects full-year revenue in the range of $1.83 billion to $1.84 billion.
